About The Hospital

Basic Pet Care began in Farmingdale on Rte 110. In 2003, being forced to move, we were able to find a stand alone property in nearby Lindenhurst. So we bought what used to be a bank. After demolishing the vault (you can ask me about it!) Dr. Lugten and his contractor friend, Keith Jones, designed and within 6 months constructed the interior, while continuing to stay open.

Our Philosophy:

Basic Pet Care Animal Hospital was established with the aim of providing quality pet care in a gentle, caring environment. We believe your pets are a part of your family and as such we do our best to ensure their health and well being as well as your satisfaction.

We firmly believe that prevention is better than cure and to this end we provide a high standard of preventative health care and advice, as well as the best medical and surgical care.

We believe in taking the time to thoroughly examine each pet and discuss all the findings, exams generally last 30-45 minutes for this reason. We also encourage careful attention to dental health.

We are proud of the modern, well equipped facility and invite you to tour it. We have been accredited as meeting the standards set by the New York State Veterinary Medical Association.

The Staff at Basic Pet Care Animal Hospital has been providing caring, compasionate, and professional veterinarian services to clients and their pets in the Nassau County and Suffolk County communities of Long Island.
